Day 3 Cornwall Earth March

March 13, 2019 by Dasher

A beautiful sunny day today, but very windy. Just three of us set off on the long uphill from Praze an Beeble. We met the local labour candidate travelling down in a car who made all the right noises about being supportive of our mission.

One highlight had to be the alpacas in a field on the way up the hill. The dog didn’t know what to do as they all came over to see us at the gate. Perfect selfie opportunity, with all those funny faces – theirs or mine?

The view from the top was impressive: we could see the whole of West Penwith, from Penzance to St Ives, and every hill between.

The wind took our breath away as well!

We stopped at Four Lanes for lunch, which was brought to us by Suzy of Falmouth XR. Delicious and very welcome soup, homemade bread and vegan flapjacks.

With spirits lifted, we set off again, through some lovely old paths and bridleways to Lanner, which, as an old mining area, has more churches than we could imagine for such a small place!

From Lanner, we took a beautiful route through farm land and tiny lanes until we climbed the hill to Cusgarne Organic Farm and finally sat down.

Another 10 miles done and we are really looking forward to a rather shorter day tomorrow, as we reach Truro.

(Lovely as it is to walk in such a small group, it would be great if more walkers could join us at Truro, even for a little while.)
